Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area is ideal for skiers of all skill levels with eleven runs, a terrain park, kids camps, as well as ski and snowboard instructions and rentals.

Muskoka has 100’s of kms of top notch cross country ski trails, so it is no wonder that skiers flock from all corners of the province to strap on skis. If you are looking for trails with rentals on site then Arrowhead Provincial Park, Frost Centre and Liv Outside. Trails are available at Limberlost Forest, Algonquin Provincial Park, Haliburton Highlands Nordic Trails, and Bracebridge Resource Management Centre. Ski rentals are available at Algonquin Outfitters. Guided cross country skiing experiences are available through Algonquin Park Adventure Tours and Liv Outside.

The Muskoka back country is ideal for exploring on snowshoes. With acres upon acres of unspoiled forests, you will be able to unleash your sense of adventure as you trek through the packed snow on one of Muskoka`s many snowshoe trails. Snowshoes can be rented at Algonquin Outfitters for you to try the trials at Algonquin Provincial Park, Echo Valley Nature & Bike Trails, and Bracebridge Resource Management Centre. Not only did we start the ice skating trail trend, but we also perfected it. Check out these amazing skating trails, each with its own unique twist on this beloved Canadian pastime. Glide through the 1.3 km Arrowhead Skating Trail, winding through the thick Muskoka forest. Skate the 1.2 km Cranberry Ice Trail over frozen cranberry beds. Enjoy trails at Arrowhead Park, Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery, Dwight Beach Skating Trail, and Memorial Park. The Memorial Park Winter Village in Bracebridge features an ice skating trail that wraps around the park. There are also many outdoor skating rinks in the area, including one at Blue Water Acres, just a short walk from your cottage, and at the Mew Lake Campground in Algonquin Provincial Park.

The thrill of the arctic and one of the great Canadian winter experiences is ready for you to try in Muskoka. Mush through the beautiful Muskoka wilderness behind you team of dogs at North Ridge Ranch. Reservations are required.

No other winter activity has grown in popularity as much a fat biking in recent years. Fat biking is one of the greatest winter activities you can get into and it is so simple to do. Liv Outside in Bracebridge offers guided tours, rentals and on-site trails. Algonquin Outfitters in Huntsville has bikes to rent with trails nearby.

Is there anything more magical than a horse drawn sleigh ride through a winter wonderland? Perfect winter activity for an afternoon with your family or a romantic evening ride with your hunny. A very popular winter activity in Muskoka, ice fishing combines the elements of a Canadian winter, with the sport of fishing. Throughout the winter, Muskoka’s lakes are dotted with ice fishing huts as anglers make their way out onto the frozen lakes to reel in the big one! New to the sport? Winter is still a great time to catch live entertainment at one of the many locations in the area. Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville, Peter’s Players and Gravenhurst Opera House both located in Gravenhurst.
